West Meadow Beauty Delivers Sweeping Meadow and Ocean Views

Diary entry from another perfect day at 35392 Sea Gate Road… This morning’s walk to The Sea Ranch Bluff Trail was idyllic! The dog was so excited to go, she galloped across the yard to our little wooden bridge leading to the Sea Meadow Trail. We reached the Bluff a few minutes later, and the bright blue waters took my breath away. She insisted on the beach. C'mon Mom, it's right there! After a good romp, we headed home and straight to the back door. Thank goodness we have a mudroom for wiping off sandy paws! Duly tidied up, I enjoyed another cup of coffee at the breakfast bar. Sunlight poured through the expansive picture windows in every room. Later, I had lunch on the deck while watching for breaching whales in the distance.

Neighbors joined us for sunset dinner on the deck. Drinks from the wet bar, then dinner for 8 (glad we have a double oven). The fog rolled in so we moved to the living room and lit the fire. After everyone left, I didn't mind doing dishes because I have ocean views from my spacious kitchen. Every time I put a dish away, I admire the gorgeous custom cabinetry. Then I settled with a book in the reading nook in the our bedroom and watched the stars come out over the water. Wow, this home's designers thought of everything to make it both elegant and livable. Cherry wood floors with radiant heating; an upstairs media/game room with a wet bar, beverage fridge, and deck; a double shower in the primary en suite bathroom; custom wardrobes and so much more. Every inch of the 2,262 square feet is perfectly planned with 3 generous bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and an office. Plus, there are two storage areas, an oversized 1-car garage, and hook ups for a generator.

What will we do tomorrow? Maybe play golf or pickleball, mountain bike on the ridge, or borrow a puzzle from the library. Maybe we'll catch The Sea Ranch Thespians’ latest play at the White Barn or learn to play pétanque. We could push the kids on the swings at One Eyed Jacks or take them for a swim at Ohlson Pool. They’d also love watching our “lawnmowers,” The Sea Ranch sheep. No matter how long we live here, we know that Sea Ranch will never fail to amaze and delight. Welcome to life in the most beautiful place on earth.

Location Details

Iconic Sea Ranch is the jewel of the California coast, set along Sonoma County’s seaside cliffs 2.5 hours north of San Francisco. Visionary architects and landscape designers, working with an idealistic developer, created a community designed to “live lightly on the land,” a pretty radical concept at the time. The lasting beauty of The Sea Ranch attests to their foresight. Our rugged and majestic coastline is an idyllic setting for homes that blend in with our unique environment – an environment that Sea Ranchers love, respect, and protect.

Our homes are surrounded by nature instead of fences. It’s a place where Sea Ranchers can sit on our decks and watch deer graze on native grasses and herons soar overhead. We can hear seals on beaches below, lounging on the rocks and nursing their new pups. The 55 miles of trails in the shared Commons mean every day is a chance to discover something new. This lasting beauty attests to its designers’ foresight and its residents’ devotion to nurturing our natural world.

A shared love of the coast and a strong sense of stewardship make this a close-knit community of part- and full-time residents who look out for each other and have a lot of fun doing it. Sure, you can come here to get away from it all. Wander along the Bluff or through tranquil redwoods or meadows when the wild azaleas are in bloom. We’ll leave you be if that’s what you want, but if you’re interested, there is so much to do.  We have 6 tennis courts, (and pickleball courts in the making), 3 swimming pools, a golf course, stables, an airstrip, a historic barn that we’ve converted to a theater, a library, a native plant garden, a decidedly not native plant garden, a dog park, and trails, trails, trails. When you’re ready for some company, take a yoga class, join the quilters or the knitters, join Bicycle Team TSR or the TSR Flying Society, volunteer at the Arts Center, become a Seal Docent, monitor nesting birds, or meet 2- and 4-legged friends at the beach.

Sound like heaven? That’s because it is.
