Jack’s Urban Eats has incredible salads. For burgers, you can’t go wrong with Mona’s or Mooyah. Downtown favorites are Lettuce, Pacific Catch and Sunrise Bistro.
Hiking!
The Canal Trail, which is just a quarter mile away, will take you anywhere; Shell Ridge Open Space, a neighborhood favorite, is 3 miles away driving but only one mile if you go by foot.
Shopping!
Lots of great gift stores in downtown WC, such as Maker’s Market and Wish, and larger, more commercial stores at Broadway Plaza, like Anthropoligie, Crate and Barrel, and The Container Store.
Happy Hour!
Calicraft Brewing Co. offers craft beers, and Residual Sugar is a cozy wine bar with an outdoor patio. Rotator Taproom is perfectly set up for social distancing.
Books!
For libraries try Contra Costa Library and the Ygnacio Valley branch; to purchase books for kids and younger readers, you can’t beat Flashlight Books.
Parks!
Walnut Creek has the best parks! Heather Farm Park, Arbolado Park, Larkey Park, Civic Park are all great options.
Why Rancho San Miguel?
The location can’t be beat – San Miguel Park, hiking trails and Heather Farm Park are so close. The RSM swim club is the place to be in the summer. Beyond the location, there is also such history here. Many owners, including the neighbor next door, have owned their home since it was developed. The neighborhood association hosts several events, including an egg hunt for the kids at San Miguel Park, and a block party on Labor Day.
