Beauty’s Bagel Shop
This one is a bit of a cheat because they don’t actually serve “brunch.” They do, however, serve incredible kettle-boiled bagels and coffee all day at their Temescal location. Chop Bar
In true Chop Bar fashion, the chef here takes brunch and steps it up a notch. Located in Oakland's Jack London Square neighborhood, the restaurant serves basic and special dishes like chili-marinated flank steak and eggs. You can make reservations online. 190 4th St., Oakland

Bottomless mimosas! Views of Lake Merritt! What more do you want? Note that the brunch menu isn’t particularly pancake/waffle/kid-friendly. But diners rave about the challah French toast stuffed with caramelized fruit and ricotta, as well as the stromboli-like “garbage bread.” Portal doesn't take reservations, so plan ahead. 1611 2nd Ave., Oakland

One of our all-time favs, Boot and Shoe Service, closed and reopened as Sister, which does a fresh, healthy take on brunch. Located in historic old town, Caffe 817 is a low-key Oakland brunch spot with an artsy European café vibe. You'll always find the walls vibrantly decorated with pieces by local artists.
